LaFlarian OF THE MONTH- Hayden Freels
What can you not say about the July 2022 LaFlarian of the Month? Hayden Freels aka “Ole Scum Freelsy” is one of the most beloved members on tour and is our reigning King of Rockwood.
Hayden first joined LaFlare Golf at Brad and T-Vick’s Dirty Thirty Birthday Bash in September 2020. Before the round started, he was spotted at the bar by himself taking 3 shots of Crown Apple, and he has been one of our favorites ever since.

What’s your favorite LaFlare memory?
“Representing LaFlare in Bad Birdie’s Condor Cup. My wife hates this, but I believe it was the greatest weekend of my life. And we brought all the hardware back to East Tennessee.”
What’s the best part of laflare golf?
“This tour is built by the players. I love the energy you get every tournament, and it keeps me on the course at least once a month. For me to finish high up on the leaderboard shows it gives a shot to anybody to come out on top.”
What’s a good round for you?
“I’m so inconsistent, a typical round for me could be anywhere from 85 to 105. I just purchased these new irons for high handicaps and shot an 87 in the last tournament. So I’m expecting my high rounds to drop to the low 90s.”
Go to snack at the turn?
“Contrary to popular LaFlare tradition, I would like a brat with onions, sauerkraut, and mustard.”
Preferred on-course beverage?
“It doesn’t matter to me. I’ll have any beer or whiskey. That’s the juice that gets the birdies flowing.”
What’s your favorite hole in East TEnnessee?
“Hole 14 at Stonehenge. It’s a par 3 about 150 yards and about 100 feel downhill with very little room for error.”
What songs do you listen to before an event?
“Kickstart My Heart by Motley Crue, Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, or a 90s West Coast Rap Pandora Station.”
